Membership Requirements

National Affiliate Members must be one of the following types of pediatric health care professionals:

  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioners who are licensed and certified advanced practice registered nurses who are working as part of a pediatric care team and are validated as doing so by an AAP member in good standing with the designation FAAP. This may include the following types of recognized advanced practice registered nurse certifications:
    • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
    • Critical Care Nurse Practitioner
    • Family Practice Nurse Practitioner
  • Licensed Physician Assistants who received a certificate from an ACR-PA accredited program, practice in the United States, or Canada, and work in a pediatric setting or at least 50% of professional activities are with infants, children, adolescents, or young adults. A copy of training certificate and one sponsor signature from a FAAP in good standing is required.

  • Pediatric Pharmacists who have earned a PharmD and are Board-certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialists and have at least one sponsor signature from a FAAP in good standing.

  • Pediatric Laboratory Directors who are Board-certified pathologists with medical degrees (MD or MD/PhD) in pathology, or Board-certified clinical chemists and other PhD-level scientists in related fields and have at least one sponsor signature from a FAAP in good standing.
