Children are disproportionately impacted by changes in their environment, and these impacts are often amplified by racial inequities that further drive health disparities. AAP is committed to a comprehensive federal policy agenda that addresses climate change and air pollution while promoting environmental justice.

Our Advocacy Priorities

Climate change threatens children’s health and exacerbates health disparities. AAP advocates for a comprehensive policy response to climate change that accounts for children’s unique needs and maximizes child health benefits while also addressing the ways that climate change and air pollution disproportionately affect communities of color.

AAP urges that federal policy must keep pace with the growing understanding of the effect of environmental hazards such as air pollution, lead and other toxins, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals on child health.

AAP advocates for policies that promote environmental justice and help ensure all children can grow up in a safe and healthy environment.
