The Payer Advocacy Advisory Committee addresses appropriate payment for pediatric services through education and advocacy. PAAC works with and supports the Pediatric Councils at the state level and maintains communication with payers nationally and regionally. PAAC collaborates with the Committee on Child Health Financing to inform and disseminate relevant financing and payment policy.

Mission

To assess the public and private payer sector and advocate for benefits coverage for pediatric services and appropriate payment for primary care pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists and pediatric surgeons.

Vision

  • Engage payer support of the pediatric medical home model and Bright Futures Guidelines for preventive care
  • Work with key groups within the Academy on strategies to address new payment models by payers
  • Develop education programs and tools to strengthen member's negotiation & contracting with payers
  • Strengthen chapter pediatric councils in engaging payers on pediatric issues
