The Section on Adolescent Health (SOAH) provides an educational, representative forum for pediatricians who are interested in the health care of adolescents, and enables members to meet for the purpose of initiation, discussion and development of ideas and programs that improve the health care of young people in their second decade of life. It provides an educational forum for the AAP membership at large to expand their basic pediatric knowledge and skills to include the adolescent patient.

The SOAH sponsors educational programs during the AAP National Conference, which includes a half-day program dedicated to a specific hot topic in adolescent medicine. At each conference, the SOAH holds a business meeting, which provides an opportunity for input from current and potential members of the SOAH to the Section Executive Committee.
