How Does the Trainees and Early Career Neonatologists (TECaN) Group Benefit You?

Community

TECaN is the special interest group designed FOR fellows and early career neonatologists to foster a sense of community and partnership as we start our careers in neonatology. Members of our TECaN community span the globe and have developed relationships that foster collaboration and camaraderie.

Resources

A main goal of TECaN is to provide new resources and highlight existing resources for membership in areas including but not limited to education, career development, advocacy, leadership, quality improvement, research, ethics, and global health. Members can access these resources through monthly Newsflashes to the TECaN listserv and through the TECaN website.

Opportunities

TECaN also aims to keep members aware of opportunities for career advancement by advertising scholarships, leadership positions, travel grants, and more! TECaN also is your go to source for deadline and application information for neonatal conferences.

Networking and Mentorship

One of the main benefits we hear time and time again is the networking and mentorship opportunities provided through TECaN membership. Depending on your current needs, TECaN provides networking with your peers as well as networking with leaders in our neonatal community!

USE your TECaN membership to TAKE CONTROL of your career trajectory, ADVANCE your opportunities, CREATE your community, and COLLABORATE with your neonatal partners around the globe!

Who is eligible to be a member of TECaN?

To become a TECaN member, you must be an AAP member and a member of the Section on Neonatal Perinatal Medicine (SoNPM). All neonatal fellows and those early career neonatologists who are within 7 years of graduating from fellowship can be members. There is no additional charge for TECaN membership.

How do I become a member?

If you’re a neonatal fellow you already are automatically enrolled in TECaN through your AAP and Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine membership. If you’re an early career member please sign up to receive the TECaN newsflash. Email tecan@aap.org with any questions or concerns!
