2020 WECaN Meeting in Scottsdale

We are very excited to announce that we will have a special speaker for our WECaN (Well-Established Career Neonatologists) meeting in Scottsdale. We will meet on Saturday March 28th from 130-300. We will hold a short business meeting and then have the presentation.

Our speaker will be Dr. Howard Eigen. Dr. Eigen is a retired pediatric pulmonologist who has a special interest in giving physicians a better sense for how to plan for the non-financial aspects of entering retirement. His career was spent at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis IN where he started the section of pulmonology and critical care and was medical director of the Pediatric Intensive care unit for 38 years. Retiring in 2014 having been Associate Chairman for over ten years during which time he was physician manager of the faculty practice plan for the department. He became interested in retirement planning because of the struggles of several friends and started reading and writing about it.
His talk is entitled Inspired Retirement which will include topics on how to make life meaningful in retirement such as:

• There is so much more to plan for in retirement other than how much money one will need.
• We will all do it differently, but there are some basic issues that we will all face.
• How can I find out what will make me happy in retirement?
• When do I start planning?
• What planning process and questions are right for me?
• Can I retire if I don’t play golf?

Dr. Eigen has a website

We would like to have a good turnout so please plan on attending. We also encourage our younger colleagues in MidCaN and TECaN to attend as they may be interested.
