The Section on Orthopaedics (SOOr) is dedicated to improving the musculoskeletal health of children through mentorship, education, research, advocacy, and service. The Section’s core pillars reflect these values and guide our members in achieving shared goals.
Our membership includes pediatric orthopaedic surgeons, pediatric orthopaedic medicine specialists, and trainees. We welcome all who share an interest in advancing pediatric musculoskeletal health to join our community.
Each fall, SOOr hosts a two-day meeting in conjunction with the AAP National Conference & Exhibition. This program provides trainees with a unique opportunity to present their research alongside mentors, fostering discussion, collaboration, and innovation. This intersection of mentorship, education, and research exemplifies our mission and embodies the Section’s pillars in action. It also offers our members valuable opportunities to learn, teach, and collaborate with general and specialty pediatric practitioners.
Throughout the year, SOOr provides additional educational experiences—including webinars, our popular MSK Bootcamp, and various publications—and works closely with AAP staff to advocate for optimal access and care in pediatric musculoskeletal health.
The SOOr Executive Committee, along with its subcommittees and task forces, meets regularly to advance this mission. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and hard work of all who contribute to these efforts. On behalf of the entire membership, I extend my sincere appreciation for all that you do.
