Community-based organizations and partners can provide important services and resources and play a critical role in communicating key messages regarding disaster preparedness and response. In addition, these same partners often provide much-needed services and resources to families before and after disasters. They are trusted sources of information and care for families and are critical partners in disaster preparedness planning.

  • Faith-based organizations (eg, local faith communities, service organizations like Catholic Charities)
  • Doulas
  • Breastfeeding/lactation consultants
  • Milk banks
  • Behavioral health (eg, mental health, substance use disorder services)
  • Social services
    • Home visiting partnerships
    • Early Childhood Development Services
    • Diaper banks
    • Planned Parenthood and other pregnancy resource centers
  • Local businesses
    • Small businesses
    • Large businesses (eg, large chain grocery stores)
    • Chamber of Commerce
  • Shelters (homeless, domestic violence)
