Become a NICU Survey Team Member

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is recruiting experienced neonatologists who are members of the AAP Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (SONPM), neonatal nurses who are members of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), and pediatric surgeons to become members of our survey team. The AAP will consider applicants who meet the following criteria:

Neonatologists

• American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) sub-board certification in neonatal-perinatal medicine
• Current Membership in AAP and Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (SONPM)
• Participation in the ABP Maintenance of Certification program
• Practicing clinical neonatology at least 10 years post-fellowship
• Current in AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program® training
• NICU leadership experience and any previous experience in program evaluation are preferred
• Currently employed/practicing in the coordination of care for neonatal patients

Neonatal Nurses

• Master's degree and licensed as a registered nurse or advanced practice registered nurse
• Current membership in NANN
• Certification by the National Certification Corporation (NCC) or American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN)
• Current in AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program® training
• At least 10 years of neonatal intensive care experience 
• NICU leadership experience and any previous experience in program evaluation are preferred
• Currently employed/practicing in the coordination of care for neonatal patients

Pediatric Surgeons

• American Board of Surgery certification, and sub-board certification in pediatric surgery
• Participation in American Board of Surgery Continuous Certification program
• Have at least 10 years of experience in the care of neonatal surgical patients (may include pediatric surgery fellowship)
• Currently employed/practicing in the coordination of care for neonatal patients

Surveyors are selected based on their expertise and will receive training from experienced NICU surveyors and AAP leadership to ensure a high quality and reliable program.
