    NRP Instructor Candidates

PediaLink®: AAP Education — Where Knowledge Thrives  /  Neonatal Resuscitation Program  /  NRP Frequently Asked Questions  /  NRP Instructor Candidates

    • Instructor Candidates are required to start the NRP Instructor Candidate Curriculum within 30 days following the approval of the application. They then have one year to complete the curriculum. No extensions will be granted.

    • Once someone who has an approved application starts the Instructor Candidate Curriculum, they have one year to complete this curriculum and become an NRP Instructor. If their NRP Provider eCard expires during that year, their Provider status is extended to the end of that year. This is not a one year extension on their Provider eCard; the new expiration date will be one year from the date they start the Instructor Candidate curriculum. If the Provider eCard expiration date is already after that one year period, the Provider eCard expiration date remains the same.

    • Applications are processed 1-2 business days after submission.

Please note, If you submit an application on a Friday, it will not be processed until the following week.

    • NRP providers who want to become NRP instructor candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

      • Have current NRP Advanced Provider status. (required)
      • Be a physician, registered nurse, nurse practitioner, respiratory care practitioner, physician assistant, certified midwife, or certified nurse midwife with experience in the hospital or accredited birth center care of newborns. (required)
      • Have current maternal-child educational or clinical responsibility within a hospital or accredited birth center setting. (required)
      • Have ongoing experience caring for newborns in the delivery room or accredited birth center. (recommended)
    • An email will be sent once the application is processed. Status of a submitted application can be viewed in your account in the Learning Platform.

Once application is approved, access to purchase the 9th Edition Instructor Candidate Curriculum will be granted.

Following the application approval, the applicant will have 30 days to start the curriculum. The NRP Instructor Candidate curriculum must be completed within one year to achieve Instructor status. No extensions will be granted.
