Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals™ (PEPP™) 5th Edition is a comprehensive training solution designed to help EMS clinicians confidently care for infants, children, and youth in emergency situations. It was developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics® (AAP®) to address the unique challenges of evaluating and treating sick or injured children before they reach the hospital.
The PEPP™ Provider courses are delivered in a blended learning format. The course combines True Adaptive™ eLearning with an in-person Instructor-led Event, allowing learners to build knowledge through personalized online learning and then apply that knowledge through hands-on practice.
The course is intended for all basic and advanced professions and offers two levels:
- PEPP BLS Provider
- PEPP ALS Provider courses
Provider Curriculum, Part 1
The learning activities in Part I include:
- Self-study the Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals ™ (PEPP™) Textbook
- PEPP BLS Online Learning Assessment
- PEPP ALS Online Learning Assessment
- Both Online Learning Assessments feature True Adaptive™ learning – a personalized method tailored to individual knowledge and confidence levels. True Adaptive learning adjusts to the learner’s competence and performance in real-time
- Part 1 Survey
Provider Curriculum, Part 2
Part 2 includes the Instructor-led Event (hands-on portion of the course). The Instructor-led Event must be completed within 1-year after completing Part 1. You will need to attend an Instructor-led Event appropriate to your curriculum type (BLS or ALS; some events may include both). Activities include:
- Scenario-based practice reflecting real EMS calls
- Skills Validation and team-based learning
- Focus on Building confidence in execution
You must register for a PEPP Instructor-led Event before attending the event. You can either register yourself for events or you can be registered by an instructor or administrator.
Once you complete all steps, the instructor will approve your skills and your eCard will be generated. You will then have access to your PEPP Provider eCard in your account on the PediaSkills learning platform.
