How We Work
The American Academy of Pediatrics is the largest organization for pediatricians in the U.S.—and so much more. Here’s how we take care of kids.
Policy
AAP policy statements form the foundation of pediatric care in the U.S. Medical experts write and review the guidelines to ensure they reflect the latest knowledge in child health.
Advocacy
The AAP advocates across the range of issues affecting children, families, and pediatricians. We work with all levels of government to keep kids’ health a national priority.
Parent Education
We give parents the resources they need to make the best health decisions for their children. The New York Times named our parenting website, HealthyChildren.org, one of its "5 Places to Turn for Accurate Health Information".
Pediatrician Support
The AAP strengthens pediatricians through opportunities for continuing education and professional development. We nurture a vibrant community of physicians motivated by the same mission: optimal health and well-being for all children.
"Giving to the Friends of Children Fund is so rewarding to me because I actually get to see the results of my giving—every day. In recent years, FCF funded two grants that helped our local chapter train healthcare professionals, educators, and mental health experts to address the medical, social, and legal needs of immigrant children. This funding has allowed us to grow a community of stakeholders dedicated to the care of this vulnerable populations.”
