Practice Transformation Implementation Guide
Transforming Pediatric Practices with Confidence
Just as pediatricians provide anticipatory guidance to families during well-child visits to help them navigate the next stage of their child's development, this resource is designed to provide anticipatory guidance to keep pediatric practices healthy amidst rapid changes to the health care delivery and payment systems.
Several influences are moving practices to innovate. One is the availability of new technologies such as telemedicine, which can potentiate a practice's services. Another is the quality movement, as we now realize that persistent formal attention to quality pays dividends. Still another is the Pediatric Patient Centered Medical Home movement, a concept whose time has come. And yet another is competition, as a growing number of families are increasingly utilizing retail-based clinics, urgent care centers, and stand alone telemedicine companies. Oftentimes, this care is provided in isolation of the child's medical home.
While the will to transform practice might be present, the means to do so might not be apparent. This resource is designed to help owners/operators and other leaders within pediatric practices to guide the implementation of changes.
