Although urgent care is a relatively new addition to the medical neighborhood, the field has seen tremendous growth in recent years. Urgent care visits now make up nearly 10% of all outpatient visits as families increasingly seek out convenient locations that offer extended hours for care. Our Section on Urgent Care Medicine is an advocate for quality pediatric care and pediatric readiness in these settings. The goals for the section are:

  1. Develop quality improvement project(s) allowing for multi-site collaboration across pediatric urgent care sites nationally
  2. Develop and publish site standards for care of the pediatric patient in an urgent care environment
  3. Form educational standards for learners in pediatric urgent care at fellowships, residency and student levels of training
  4. Develop pediatric urgent care educational programming to promote high-quality, evidence based care

With nearly 200 members with experience working in rural and urban environments, affiliated with a hospital system or in private practice, the section is growing with members driven to help advance the field of pediatric urgent care. We are excited to be a part of this dynamic and emerging field of medicine. If you share a passion for pediatric urgent care please sign up below.
