Specialty Fellows must be certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in plastic surgery. Applicants must also devote a minimum of 50% of clinical practice to the care of infants, children and adolescents through age 21.
Applicants must submit:
- Photocopy of certificate(s) of board certification.
Residents must be currently enrolled in a plastic surgery residency program that has been approved by the Residency Review Committee (RRC-PS) for Plastic Surgery and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or those programs approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

Fellowship Trainee Members must be pursuing further subspecialty training in pediatric plastic surgery, pediatric cranio-maxillofacial surgery, pediatric microsurgery or pediatric burns.

Candidate Members must have completed training and have entered clinical practice, but may have not yet attained American Board of Plastic Surgery or Royal College of Surgeons of Canada membership. A minimum of 50% of professional time must be devoted to the care of infants, children and adolescents through age 21.

Section Affiliate membership
- Licensed plastic surgeons not eligible for Specialty Fellowship in the AAP who reside outside the United States and Canada and who devote 50% of their time to pediatric plastic surgery patients.
- Registered nurses, speech pathologists, physical and occupational therapists or social workers who devote at least 50% of their time to pediatric surgery patients.
- Research scientists with a Masters or PhD degree who devote at least 50% of their research time to conditions related to pediatric plastic surgery.
