Improving a Child’s Behavior and Self-Control

This course will provide an overview of the current knowledge about what works in behavior management for ADHD. This course will help pediatricians assist parents to sort through options to help kids with ADHD and aid in finding the right choices for their child. Through this course, pediatricians and other pediatric health care providers will be given guidance on how to use structure, support, anticipatory guidance, and self-management to help children living with ADHD succeed at school, home, and in relationships.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the activity, the participant will be able to: 

1. Describe the benefits of ADHD behavior management therapy.   
2. Identify multiple evidence based options for behavioral support.  
3. Describe strategies to promote successful behaviors across environments.  
4. Identify brief behavior management interventions that can be introduced during clinical appointments.  
5. Describe the roles of the care team (including healthcare professionals, families, and school personnel) when implementing evidence-based behavior management strategies for children with ADHD.
