The READI (Relational, Engaging, Attuned, Developmental Interactions) Project funded by the Overdeck Family Foundation in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics is designed to prepare practices to support the needs of young children and their families.
The curriculum includes a collection of resources and practical strategies to support the implementation of AAP guidance, namely:
- Eliciting family concerns.
- Assessing and commending family strengths.
- Screening for child development and providing appropriate supports and referrals.
Because relational work with families relies on staff to be responsive to complex challenges and emotions, staff and leadership will also learn approaches to strengthening wellness in their clinics. The curriculum includes a PediaLink course on attunement and self-reflection, strategies for mindfulness and reflective practice, and policies for leadership to strengthen their employee’s well-being.
In the span of a year, practices will participate in 4 group learning sessions and 4 quality improvement coaching sessions with AAP staff and subject matter experts.
Overarching Goal: By June 2027, practices participating in the READI project will advance relational health and readiness for learning in kindergarten.
