This series provides Title V CYSHCN public health and family leadership organizations with an understanding of key parts of the Early, Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) program, the comprehensive child health benefit under Medicaid. Through this series, participants will: 

  • Learn the basics of EPSDT and its importance for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and their families.
  • Explore important updates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance.
  • Understand state responsibilities related to Medicaid enrollment for children with disabilities, beneficiary education, and access to medical and behavioral health care and care coordination/case management. 

Designed for Title V CYSHCN public health professionals and family leaders, this series gives participants the tools to help support their state’s Medicaid program in delivering EPSDT services and ensuring children enrolled in Medicaid have access to the care they need.
