The AAP Section on Obesity (SOOb) is comprised of a diverse group of 600 general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, and allied health professionals who have an interest in the field of pediatric obesity prevention, assessment. and treatment. The SOOb is governed by an Executive Committee of six obesity experts, and its mission is to improve the health and well-being of children and families by reducing the prevalence of childhood obesity and promoting healthy active living. The SOOb supports its members and the Academy by writing policy, generating CME programming, developing networking opportunities, and supporting timely communication.

Sarah Armstrong, MD, FAAP, is the Chair of the AAP Section on Obesity, Co-Director of the Duke Center for Childhood Obesity, and Professor of Pediatrics and Population Health Sciences, Duke University, Durham, NC.

Victoria W. Rogers, MD, FAAP

Dr Victoria W. Rogers is a Pediatrician and the Senior Director of Let’s Go! at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center. There, she oversees the development, coordination, and promotion of childhood obesity prevention and treatment initiatives.

Dr Rogers is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Tufts University School of Medicine. Additionally, she is Associate Director for the AAP Institute for Healthy Childhood Weight and serves on the executive committee for the AAP Section on Obesity.  

Dr Rogers graduated from Dartmouth College and the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She resides in Saco, Maine.
