About COMP

Welcome to the Council on Medications and Pharmacology (COMP)! Formed on July 1, 2026 through the merger of the Section on Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (SOCPT) and the Committee on Drugs (COD), COMP brings together a broad network of expertise and perspectives.

By combining these two longstanding groups, we’ve created a more collaborative and efficient structure, one that allows us to better support SOCPT’s educational mission while expanding opportunities for meaningful member engagement.  

Our work is grounded in four key pillars:

• Prescribing - promoting safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use
• Access - supporting equitable availability of therapies for all patients
• Science - advancing knowledge through research, evaluation, and education
• Stewardship - encouraging responsible use of medications to improve outcomes and reduce harm

COMP is driven by a shared commitment to improving medication use and advancing patient care. With a larger, more connected community, members can take part in subcommittees, lead innovative initiatives, contribute to newsletters and more.
