The AAP Section on Transport Medicine facilitates interactions among physicians and other providers involved in interfacility transport for the purpose of improving care of infants, children, and adolescents. The Section supports all transport team members by developing clinical guidance, providing education, facilitating interdisciplinary networking, promoting research, and advocating for providers at the local, state, and national level.

Robert Holcomb Jr, MD, FAAP

Robert Holcomb, Jr, MD attended Arizona State University, a dual major in Biomedical & Chemical Engineering. He earned his Medical Degree from Georgetown University.  He completed his Residency at Wilford Hall US Air Force Medical Center and Fellowship in Neonatology at the University of Colorado/Denver Children’s Program. Dr Holcomb was a distinguished graduate of Air Force ROTC and is an 18-year USAF Disabled Veteran.
 
Dr Holcomb has conducted numerous national and international pediatric & neonatal critical care transports, during combat and peacetime, throughout the US, Europe & Asia, as well as trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific. He has transported in numerous fixed wing aircraft as well as rotary. He served as Commander of the USAF’s second largest Critical Care Air Transport Teams, and as consultant to the USAF Transportation Command Surgeon General. He developed, launched and now runs the HCA Midwest Division, Neonatal & Maternal Transport programs.

Keith Meyer, MD, FAAP

Dr. Keith Meyer is the medical director for the LifeFlight Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Team at Nicklaus Children's Health System. He is a voluntary Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University and has served on the AAP Section of Transport Medicine Executive Committee since 2008 – and as Chairperson between 2014 and 2018.

Ranna Rozenfeld, MD, FAAP

Ranna A. Rozenfeld, MD, FAAP, FCCM, is Professor of Pediatrics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Rozenfeld specializes in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She is the Division Director for Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and the Medical Director of the LifePACT Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She is actively involved in teaching, research and clinical care.

Dr. Rozenfeld received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Chicago and her pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Rozenfeld’s academic and research interests include transport medicine, sepsis and septic shock, extracorporeal life support, as well as medical education. She recently completed a 6-year term on the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Transport Medicine. She is also a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, the American Pediatric Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Air Medical Physician Association. Dr. Rozenfeld was awarded the 2017 Excellence in Transport Leadership Award by the Association of Air Medical Services. She has published extensively in the pediatric critical care and pediatric transport literature, and has edited The PICU Handbook, McGraw Hill Education.

Hamilton P. Schwartz, MD, MEd, FAAP, FACEP

Hamilton Schwartz, MD, MEd, FAAP, FACEP, is board-certified in pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, and EMS medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Cincinnati Children’s Critical Care Transport Team and Pediatric Medical Director for the Cincinnati Fire Department. He co-founded the Ground Air Medical qUality Transport (GAMUT) database and Quality Improvement Collaborative, an international transport medicine quality improvement collaborative involving over 400 member organizations. He is the associate editor of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Executive Committee of the Section on Transport Medicine’s two-volume policy guides on neonatal and pediatric transport medicine. He is also co-editor of the AAP’s new peer-reviewed transport research journal Transport Dispatch.
