Dr Peter J. Taub, MD, MS, FAAP, FACS, is a former President of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Pediatric Plastic Surgery and remains active in the Academy. He is currently a Professor of Surgery, Pediatrics, Dentistry, and Neurosurgery at the Icahn School of Medicine and serves as the Program Director for the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Timothy W. King, MD, PhD, MSBE, FAAP, FACS

Timothy W. King, MD, PhD, MSBE, FAAP, FACS, is a pediatric and adult plastic surgeon, the director of plastic surgery research, and the associate program director of the plastic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also an Associate Professor with Tenure in the Departments of Surgery and Biomedical Engineering and the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Birmingham VA Hospital. He received a BS and MS in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University and an MD/PhD from The University of Texas–Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center. His PhD research focused on the development of biodegradable microspheres for use in tissue engineering and resulted in two US patents. He completed his plastic surgery training at the Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the New York University Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Plastic Surgery at the Northwestern University Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. Following residency and fellowship, he joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin, where he established an NIH-funded laboratory focused on developing regenerative therapies for cutaneous wounds. He was recruited in 2016 to the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
