The Section on Neurological Surgery (SONS) addresses issues common to pediatric neurosurgery: patient management, continuing education, clinical research, and interaction with the members of the American Academy of Pediatrics, in an effort to improve the care of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with neurosurgical disorders.

The Section focuses on interdisciplinary educational activities and development of joint programs that would benefit not only the Section members but the primary care pediatrician as well. The Section is actively involved in assisting the AAP in developing practice parameters and position papers on issues related to the child with a neurosurgical disease.

The members of this Section also benefit in the interactive process with the AAP, not only from the educational standpoint but also from practice development.
