Designed for pediatricians, pediatric health care professionals, and teams across child-serving agencies, the 2026 Relational Health & Trauma Informed Care course equips participants to confidently recognize trauma exposure and respond with practical, relationship-centered strategies that support children and families.

Participants will leave with actionable tools to promote resilience, strengthen safe and stable caregiver relationships, and integrate trauma-informed practices into everyday care—helping families build the supportive, nurturing connections that children need to thrive.

  • Recognize the effects of trauma on people experiencing barriers or people with fewer resources.

The new American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Pediatric Mental Health Education Center (PMHEC) seeks to equip pediatricians with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to care for their patients’ mental health. Thanks to support from the Morgan Stanley Foundation, a limited number of scholarships are available for clinicians working in Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs) after the completion of this course and associated evaluations. These $1,000 scholarships can help offset the cost of participation in this program. Registration Confirmation 

Your registration will be confirmed. Please contact the AAP Registration Area if you do not receive a confirmation within 7 days. The AAP cannot be responsible for expenses incurred by an individual who is not confirmed and for whom space is not available at this course. The AAP reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances or to limit enrollments, should attendance exceed capacity. Course educational sessions are open only to registered attendees.

Registration Cancellations

Requests for registration cancellations must be e-mailed by 10/16/2026. A $75 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. No refunds will be issued after 10/16/2026. Refunds will not be issued if the course materials have been accessed by the registrant at any time. 

The AAP is not responsible for any fees incurred due to travel cancellations, disruptions, or other unforeseen incidents. All attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase personal travel insurance.

Special group rates beginning at $239 per night, plus tax, for single or double occupancy, have been negotiated at the Austin Marriott Downtown. These rates represent substantial savings from published rates. The cutoff date for reservations at the group rate is October 2, 2026. This program is accredited for 18.00 NAPNAP CE contact hours of which 0.00 contain pharmacology (Rx) content, (0.00 related to psychopharmacology) (0.00 related to controlled substances), per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Continuing Education Guidelines.
