Description and Learning Objectives

Description

This activity provides clinicians with practical tips, knowledge and resources to effectively describe components of pediatric dysregulation. The course will guide clinicians in addressing tic disorders, ADHD, OCD, and related dysregulation (ie, mood, movement, thoughts, actions) in children. This knowledge will strengthen skills for clinicians to care for those with Tourette Syndrome and related conditions while helping patients and families navigate the challenges of diagnosis.

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to

Describe the first steps a pediatrician could take when a child presents with tics/differential diagnosis.
Describe components of pediatric dysregulation, including mood, movement, thoughts and actions, and the interplay of co-occurring conditions and neurodiversity such as ADHD, OCD, and tic disorder.
Provide structure and guidance for when clinicians should ‘wait and see’ versus refer when seeking a diagnosis of tics/Tourette Syndrome.  
Describe how to support patients and families navigate the complexities of a diagnosis.
