Format: Live-Virtual
Registration Fee - $100.00
Target Audience:
GHEARD is Global Health Education for Equity, Anti-Racism, and Decolonization. It is a modular curriculum for global health trainees and providers that is being published by the American Academy of Pediatrics with collaboration from the Association of Pediatric Program Directors and the Consortium of Universities for Global Health. It was created by a diverse, large author group with representatives across the education spectrum and around the world. GHEARD centers the voices and expertise of colleagues in resource-constrained communities.
This introductory end-user course to the GHEARD curriculum prepares participants to address healthcare disparities by examining the historical and structural roots of inequity and power imbalances in global health. Centering the voices of colleagues in resource-constrained communities, it emphasizes ethical, collaborative partnerships and community-driven solutions. Through reflective learning and video-based case supplements on American Indian/Native American health and Climate Change/Environmental Justice, participants will navigate challenging conversations, build awareness of their own power and bias, practice trauma-informed dialogue, and gain practical skills for engaging in equitable global health work both in the United States and globally.
