​​The Council on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (COQIPS) is cordially inviting Academy Members and other professionals not eligible for a national membership within the American Academy of Pediatrics, parents, legal guardians, foster parents and patients (16+) to join our council as affiliate members.

The council offers many opportunities to network, learn, and lead in the areas of membership, implementation, education, evidence-based guidelines, quality measurement, and patient safety.  We encourage you to join us if you are interested in working to improve the quality of care for children.  As a member you are welcome to take advantage of one or more of the following:

  • Contribute to the field quality improvement and patient safety by participating in council activities
  • Attend the council educational events and opportunities
  • Propose new educational events and speakers for future AAP meetings
  • Participate in a member listserv

Affiliate Members: COQIPS is welcoming affiliate members including, parents, legal guardians, foster parents, patients (16+), physicians and other professionals who are not eligible for membership within the AAP.  As a COQIPS Affiliate Member you can begin to contribute toward the mission, vision and values of the Council.  Affiliate members will be invited to participate in committee tasks that may include review of academic papers, participation in national meetings, and co-writing publications.  There is no cost for parents, legal guardians, foster parents and patients (16+) to join the council.

Affiliate Member Requirements:

  • Submission of an endorsement letter by a member of the council. 
  • ​​​​Sign a disclosure statement

​​Process for becoming an affiliate member: Affiliate member applicants should complete the application and submit an endorsement letter and signed disclosure statement to the AAP's Department of Membership.  Applications will be thoroughly reviewed and approved based on the council bylaws.  New affiliate members will receive a confirmation and welcome message once the membership has been approved.
