COCIT provides a voice for primary care pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists in the world of HIT.

All members of the national AAP are eligible to join COCIT! COCIT also accepts affiliate members who are actively involved in the use and application of HIT to pediatric care. Click here for information about membership dues.

  • Access to the COCIT Digest: A quarterly round-up of relevant HIT articles, COCIT activities, opportunities for HIT leadership within the AAP, advance notice of educational opportunities, and more!
  • Participation in the COCIT listserv: This members-only email list is a space for COCIT members to share experiences, ask questions, and engage with their fellow HIT enthusiasts.
  • Networking Opportunities: Not only with COCIT members, but with other pediatric HIT stakeholders like the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) andCenters for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Authorship Opportunities: Write pediatric HIT policy for the AAP or contribute to AAP News with a Tech Tip or Health IT Trends article.
  • Leadership Opportunities: Work on essential projects focused on pediatric HIT policy and advocacy, guidance, education, and communications. COCIT members are also eligible for election to the COCIT Executive Committee.

COCIT Membership Support​​s Pediatric HIT

  • ​​ Recognition of achievements in pediatric HIT: Each year, COCIT presents the Byron Oberst Award  to a pediatrician who has made significant contributions to the use of clinical information technology in pediatrics.
  • Pediatric HIT advocacy: COCIT members contribute to federal policy and represent pediatrics on a variety of national level HIT committees and work groups.
  • Pediatric informatics research: Each year, COCIT presents awards for research projects that demonstrate the impact of HIT on child health.
  • Adoption and implementation of HIT in pediatrics: COCIT members share and promote strategies for effective use of HIT in pediatric primary and subspecialty care.​
