History of Medicine on Teaching Rounds: Why it Matters and How to Do it
Tonse N.K. Raju, MD; Jeffrey P. Baker, MD, PhD; and Lawrence M. Gartner, MD organized a workshop for the Pediatric Academic Societies annual meeting in Boston on April 30 to demonstrate to residents the advantages of incorporating medical history into lectures, seminars, and daily rounds. The workshop demonstrates how to discover new resources and offers the opportunity to learn from the examples of experienced medical historians as they demonstrate the benefits of utilizing medical history to teach and inspire retention of medical information. The historical material can also enhance your journal and textbook writing.
