On behalf of the AAP Section on Early Career Physicians (SOECP), welcome! We strive to be your professional home for career and personal development.
The SOECP is a diverse and engaged group of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. To augment that diversity, any member of the Academy can join our Section, though only members within 10 years of training may serve on our Executive Committee.
We are currently focused on several areas our members have highlighted as being critical in the first 1,000 days after training. We have active workgroups, outlined below, tackling these initiatives.
Wellness: We are very interested in physician wellness and how we can be a resource for our members. We also continue to promote financial health resources.
Engagement: We are identifying methods to promote engagement of early career physicians in AAP Chapters, Sections, and Councils.
Leadership: Emerging as a leader while forming the foundation of a career can be stressful. We aim to provide resources to help early career physicians be successful leaders in all aspects of their lives and careers. Part of that process often includes finding a mentor. We encourage you to join our AAP Mentorship Program.
Membership Experience: We are striving to improve means for early career physicians to familiarize themselves with the vast activities of the AAP. We also aim to improve the digital interface of the AAP and our Section.
Please remember that you are the lifeblood of the AAP and our Section. Our success and relevance depends on your degree of engagement. We have opportunities for involvement to match whatever amount of time you can commit. We therefore invite you to become engaged with the Section by joining one of the groups above or visiting our volunteer board to peruse open positions.
