AAP Response to President Obama's State of the Union Address

2/12/2013 by: Thomas K. McInerny, MD, FAAP, president, American Academy of Pediatrics
“The American Academy of Pediatrics supports President Obama’s commitment tonight during his State of the Union address to invest in children. As pediatricians, we know that the first five years of life set a critical foundation for lifelong health and learning. Focusing the nation’s energy and resources on our children—by supporting high-quality preschool programs, access to affordable health care, policies that protect children from the devastating effects of gun violence, and those that help lift children out of poverty—will keep children safe, healthy and allow them to thrive. The nation's pediatricians look forward to partnering with the Administration on these and other initiatives that put children first.”
