The Importance of Vaccines

If there was a magic potion that would protect your child from deadly diseases, a potion proven to be effective and safe, wouldn’t you jump at the chance to give it to him? Immunization is that magic potion. Yet there are parents in the United States who still don’t want their child immunized. Without immunizations, your child can catch infections that cause high fever, coughing, choking, breathing problems, brain injury and death. These illnesses can leave your child deaf, blind, or paralyzed. Childhood immunizations have reduced most of these diseases to very low levels in the United States. However, some of these diseases are still common in other parts of the world and travelers can bring them into this country. Parents who fear that immunizations may harm their children need to look at this fact: immunization has saved more children’s lives than any other medical advance.
