President's Message

The stories we share are really your stories. The narrative, photos and data points illustrated in this issue of the Philanthropic Impact Report are about programs supported by the generosity of AAP members and partners who generously donate and are examples of the very programs you champion every day. With each gift, we have yet another opportunity to fund a strategic initiative that will make life better for children. We are eager to tell these stories of impact as we strive to demonstrate what it means when you give to the AAP.

Thank you for your support.

Your gift makes a difference
With so many choices, Why donate to the AAP?

We help families raise healthy children.

All children deserve a voice, and we're the most powerful, prominent advocate they have.

We help pediatric medicine and education evolve in a changing world.

We're everywhere children need us to be – whether it's in the exam room, with policy makers, or around the world.

We are creating a home for the future of children's health

—a new headquarters that supports our efforts to achieve greater impact and advance the health and well-being of children everywhere.

The Chu Family Foundation
Dr. Susan Walley and her family (including husband and pediatrician Ryan) made a generous gift to the campaign and explains…

“The American Academy of Pediatrics has been an amazing home for my professional and personal pursuits and The Chu Family Foundation is honored to financially support the For Our Future Campaign. Through the AAP, I have been inspired to advocate for children, mentored to lead, and met many like-minded pediatricians across the nation.

The AAP, through the Julius B. Richmond Center of Excellence and the Section of Tobacco Control (Dr. Susan Walley has been involved with both and is the incoming Chair of the Section of Tobacco Control Executive Committee), is a leader in protecting children from tobacco use and tobacco smoke exposure. The For Our Future Campaign allows this work and much more activity to continue and thrive.”

Susan shared that the Chu Family Foundation is proud to support an organization that focuses on the health and well-being of children.

Campaign gifts to the Academy support the work of establishing a new headquarters for the AAP. Many donors have made generous gifts and commitments to the For Our Future campaign, ensuring that our current and future work on behalf of children is effective, efficient and up to the task of a new, collaborative and digital generation of pediatric professionals.
