The AAP Mental Health Leadership Work Group supports the development of collaborative projects between pediatricians and mental health professionals towards a goal of continually improving the delivery of health care to children and their families. Pediatricians have successfully employed, co-located, and collaborated with mental health professionals (eg, social workers, psychologists, child and adolescent psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners with specialized training) to provide services for children in a variety of settings.
