Program Description
San Ysidro Health Center’s (SYHC) Pediatric Development Clinic (PDC) represents a new component within SYHC’s School Readiness Initiative, a multicomponent project whose goal is to ensure that children enter school healthy and ready to learn. PDC provides family-based pediatrics developmental services to predominantly Latino children residing in the medically underserved community of San Ysidro, California. Children whose developmental needs are not met are at risk for a range of developmental delays, and there is a shortage of pediatric development services in community health centers.
The goal of the PDC is to increase access to developmental pediatric care services, thereby increasing the level of school readiness of children in San Ysidro.
