Who We Are
The American Academy of Pediatrics is committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for ALL infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
Helping Babies Survive educational programs focus on the "ALL" that is prominent in the AAP mission, particularly the under-served global population of newborns. HBS learning materials are developed by editors who serve on the Helping Babies Survive Planning Group that consists of volunteer fellows and liaisons from multiple disciplines. The HBS Planning Group also provides guidance and support in the areas of implementation as they network with colleagues in the US and other countries.
HBS programs are supported by the HBS Team in the Division of Life Support Programs, within the Department of Global Child Health and Life Support. The Division of Life Support Programs works to advance science and research in global pediatric care and create and collaborate on innovative and life-saving products that support diverse audiences in the first line of response.
The over-arching goal of Helping Babies Survive is to have at least one trained person present at every birth around the world.
