MAXIMUM AMA PRA CATEGORY 1 CREDITS™ FOR COURSE: 16

The 2024 Global Health Education Course (GHEC) will prepare pediatricians and trainees at all stages of their careers who have an interest in global health and who need further education and resources to get involved.

This Course Will Feature:

  • High-Yield Sessions
  • Global Health Education on Equity, Antiracism and Decolonization Workshop

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, participants will have accomplished the following:

  • Prepare participants for everyday challenges of caring for children and families in countries and cultures different from their own
  • Receive adequate pre-travel orientation and preparation in:
    • Clinical presentations, management, and treatment of common tropical diseases.
    • Global health advocacy and policy
    • Global health history and decolonization
  • Self-reflect on their reasons for becoming interested in global health and build a learning community of colleagues with whom to share their experiences
  • Become proficient in procedural skills that can be done in low-resource settings

By participating in the full course, you have the opportunity to:  

  • Prepare for the everyday challenges of caring for children and families in countries and cultures different from your own, all while gaining proficiency in procedural skills that can be done in low-resource settings. 
  • Connect with a community of like-minded learners that you can interact with before and after the sessions.
  • Explore components of the Global Health Education for Equity, Antiracism and Decolonization curriculum 
  • Ask the faculty members questions that you encounter in practice, either during the scheduled question and answer sessions or during session breaks.
  • Participate in all scheduled breaks, as listed in the course schedule.

EARN 16 MOC PART 2 POINTS!

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 16 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The AAP designates this Other activity (Live In-Person and Internet Live) for a maximum of 16.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity is acceptable for a maximum of 16.00 AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP CME/CPD Award available to Fellows and Candidate Members of the AAP.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 16.00 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Allied Health Professional - 2024 Global Health Education Course - Itasca, IL - August 10-11, 2024 and Online

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

This program is accredited for 16.00 NAPNAP CE contact hours of which 0.00 contain pharmacology (Rx) content, (0.00 related to psychopharmacology) (0.00 related to controlled substances), per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Continuing Education Guidelines. The AAP is designated as Agency #A17. Upon completion of the program, each participant desiring NAPNAP contact hours must send a completed certificate of attendance to ce@napnap.org. Payment of $15 for NAPNAP members and nonmembers is required via credit card for all NAPNAP contact hour requests. Keep this certificate for your records for six (6) years. Requests for duplicate certificates should be made to the AAP.

PAs may claim a maximum of 16.00 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society.
