The Pediatric Practice Management Alliance (PPMA) is an AAP Subcommittee of the Section on Administration and Practice Management (SOAPM) created with the mission to empower Pediatric Practice Administrators, Nurses and Managers to help navigate through, and find solutions for, the many day-to-day challenges of running a medical practice.

Our collective knowledge adds up to hundreds of years of experience offering network capabilities and access to a multitude of resources thus allowing us to help our practices become more effective, efficient, and profitable.

PPMA consists of over 250 members throughout the country who are stationed at the helm of pediatric practices who exchange their practical advice and knowledge via an active listserv and open communication system. Imagine sitting at your desk and needing to make a very difficult decision and knowing within minutes you can have the advice and input of 200 other practice managers and leaders.  PPMA members can keep a finger on the pulse and know what’s coming before having to make the tough changes and decisions.

I personally love it when my physicians ask, “can you check with your people?”!

PPMA offers a library full of forms and various draft policies and procedures so you do not have to start from scratch.  PPMA hosts and co-hosts an extensive array of webinars to address issues that are current and relevant to the daily activities of the practice administrator.

My goal as the chairperson of PPMA, in conjunction with the leadership team and excellent staff of the AAP, is to expand its virtual home and supportiveness to the healthcare community it serves.  We all have a lot to offer each other and in healthcare today must be leaders in a multitude of areas including business development, marketing, human resources, financial analysis, and information management.  Managers possess professionalism, empathy, and selflessness in everyday dealings with those we encounter.  These assets make us wonderful leaders that positively impact those around us.  As said so eloquently by Nelson Mandela: “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we lived.  It is for what difference we have made in the lives of others that will determine that significance of the life we lead.”

The success of PPMA is built on its members so if you are a current member, we thank you and celebrate its many years of success with you, and if you are not yet a member, we encourage you to join today!
