Why voters should choose you
For more than 25 years, I treated and cared for children in the office setting, each day making a difference in the lives of my patients and their families. As I matured professionally, I began to consider the potential impact of merging my medical skills/knowledge with those of leadership and advocacy with the goal of improving the health and welfare of all children in Kentucky. The advocacy opportunities seemed limitless: discussing with parents the importance of safe sleep, car safety, addressing healthy eating habits and physical activity. Energized by the advocacy successes I’ve experienced to date in Kentucky, I would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the continued advocacy efforts of the Chapters nationally. I look forward to augmenting the strengths of each individual Chapter moving forward. Additionally, I view the District Chair position as an opportunity to further build a community of leaders.

I am committed to the work of the AAP and have been engaged at many levels in the challenges we face advocating for our patients, their families and our profession. I have seen the challenges our patients and communities have faced from adverse childhood experiences such as poverty and abuse and have been grateful for the support from our chapter and district colleagues as we work to advocate for our children. As a leader at the district level, I would be honored to help move us forward in our efforts to support our communities and our patients in innovative ways.

Why voters should choose you
I have experience in advocacy for children on the local, state, chapter, district and national levels. I have been a partner in an independent pediatric practice for over 25 years, with a direct view of the challenges facing pediatricians in practice. I serve on the clinical teaching faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, gaining insight into the academic environment by teaching medical students and residents. I have participated in legislative advocacy for children for many years. I feel that these experiences make me well suited for the position of District IV Vice Chairperson.
