ITASCA, IL (May 24, 2018)—The American Academy of Pediatrics Board of Directors announces the departure of Dr. Karen Remley, MD, MBA, MPH, FAAP as CEO/Executive Vice President as her three-year contract concludes.

“On behalf of the entire American Academy of Pediatrics, we thank Dr. Remley for her leadership and accomplishments as CEO/Executive Vice President. We wish her the best in her future work,” said Colleen Kraft, MD, MBA, FAAP, President.  “Dr. Remley has led the organization during a critical period and made an important impact on the AAP and furthered its mission to improve child health.”

“The organization has benefited from her guidance as CEO/Executive Vice President and she has left us in a strong position for the future. During this transition, the Academy’s staff and leaders will remain focused, as always, on improving the lives and health of all children and serving our members. The management team and staff will continue to lead the organization forward until a new CEO is appointed,” Dr. Kraft said.  

The board of directors will initiate a national search for a CEO/Executive Vice President. The board has appointed Mark Del Monte, JD, Chief Deputy and Senior Vice President of Advocacy and External Affairs, as the Interim CEO/Executive Vice President. Mr. Del Monte will lead a strong chief executive team including: Dr. Fan Tait, Chief Medical Officer; Roberta Bosak, Chief Administrative Officer; Judy Dolins, Chief Implementation Officer; John Miller, Chief Financial Officer; and Mary Lou White, Chief Products and Services Officer.
