The American Academy of Pediatrics announces the hiring of Albert Jones, an established business development leader with broad experience in the United States, Middle East and Europe, to cultivate and expand business opportunities worldwide and strengthen the Academy’s mission as its new Director of Global Business Development.

Jones, who lives in Chicago, brings expertise from a 30-year career in the public and private sector, where he worked in business development, financial management, operations, and strategy. He most recently led efforts to develop international business growth at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the largest scientific society in the word, for two years. At AAAS Research Competitiveness Program, Jones established multiple institutional relationships in government, industry, science, academia and non-profit sectors. He also established and headed the Business Development Department at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in Saudi Arabia, to generate opportunities for long-term revenue.

Jones will lead efforts to work with external partners to access AAP products, services and programs relevant to their work. He will work collaboratively with members and staff to support the AAP mission, which is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

Jones spent his early career in the private sector at Key Bank, Merrill Lynch and General Motors. He has a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
