Dr. Kaushik is an assistant professor of pediatrics and medical director of the Complex Care Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine-The Children's Hospital of San Antonio. She was raised in southern California, by immigrant parents, and her father has practiced pediatrics in his private solo practice for the past 39 years. She attended Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Punjab, India, for medical school at the age of 18 and trained in general pediatrics at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. While practicing as a private pediatrician and community hospitalist at Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, she completed a Public Health Leadership course through the University of Nebraska, during which she designed a fluoride varnish instructional tool for rural primary care providers that earned two national awards, including the AAP's Special Achievement Award, and has hit more than 19,000 views on YouTube. She lives in San Antonio with her husband, an academic urologic oncologist, and three daughters, where she has served as a PTA officer for several years.
