Disaster Preparedness and Response Information for Families

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) HealthyChildren.org Web site is the only parenting Web site backed by 66,000 pediatricians committed to the attainment of optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. The site includes various Web pages that focus on disasters, infectious diseases, coping and adjustment, and much more.

Pediatricians can begin conversations with families about potential disasters in their area, and identify what each child would need to safely cope with the disaster. In times of disaster or crisis, pediatricians can point families toward these important resources. All Web pages are available in English and Spanish.
