Access to pediatric care is a quantifiable problem for our community. Children with special needs frequently travel outside of our community (3-5 hours) to obtain pediatric sub-specialty care. Our group is working collaboratively to develop a children's center to address this need. At the beginning of the year we formed a group that consists of Pediatricians, Public Healthcare workers, employees from the Department of Health and Human Services, our surrounding school districts, autism educators, local hospitals, and concerned parents of children with special needs. This group has been meeting monthly and is steadily moving towards the goal of initiating and implementing a Children's Center for our community.
