The American Academy of Pediatrics is committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for ALL infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

Helping Babies Survive educational programs focus on the "ALL" that is prominent in the AAP mission, particularly the under-served global population of newborns. HBS programs are managed by the Global Newborn Health team within the Department of Global Child Health and Life Support at the AAP.

HBS learning materials are developed by editors who serve on the Helping Babies Survive Planning Group that consists of volunteer AAP fellows and liaisons from multiple disciplines.

The over-arching goal of Helping Babies Survive is to have at least one trained person present at every birth around the world.
