Ivan Leslie Hand, MD, MS, FAAP, is the director of neonatology at NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County and a professor of pediatrics at SUNY-Downstate School of Medicine. He has held various leadership positions in the American Academy of Pediatrics, including the New York State representative to the Perinatal Section from 2004-2010, and is currently a member of the AAP Committee on Fetus and Newborn and co-facilitator for the AAP Chapter 2 CATCH program. Dr. Hand was selected as a 2021 New York Super Doctor and is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research. He is also chairperson of the Ethics Committee of Kings County/ SUNY Downstate.
Heather C. Hamner, PhD, MS, MPH

Heather C. Hamner, PhD, MS, MPH, has been at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since 2003. She is a health scientist in the Maternal, Infant, and Toddler Nutrition Team, where she leads efforts on early child nutrition, focusing on ensuring children have optimal nutrition and feeding practices in the first two years of life. This work has included research on food consumption patterns and nutritional status of young children, working with partners to advance education and training of health care providers, and working with federal partners to advance efforts related to early child nutrition. Prior to joining her current team, Dr. Hamner worked for 11 years as a health scientist in CDC’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, in which she focused on ensuring that women have safe and healthy pregnancies.
