The Pediatrician Life and Career Experience Study (PLACES), started in 2012, is an ongoing longitudinal study to get accurate and current information on the personal and professional experiences of pediatricians.

The AAP is most grateful to PLACES pediatricians who generously give of their time to complete the surveys each year.

PLACES was featured at the 2024 AAP National Conference and Exhibition!

In September 2024, Bobbi Byrne, MD, FAAP (Chair, PLACES Project Advisory Committee) summarized what we have learned about pediatricians from PLACES over the years and recognized the valuable contribution participants provide, year after year, during a plenary session (What's Trending? 7 Things To Know About US Pediatricians) at the national conference of the AAP.

AAP Immediate Past President Ben Hoffman, MD, FAAP, said “It was really wonderful to see an entire room of 5,000 of our colleagues in rapt attention as they learned about the incredible work that you have helped us be able to do.”
